AWADHI'S VICTORY

When we first received Awadhi into Treasures of Africa Children’s Home, he was extremely thin, weak, and had very little muscle tone. Even though he was 4 years old at the time, he was unable to walk on his own. After pouring on the love, good nutrition and lots of prayer, Awadhi became stronger and began to walk. Soon he was running and playing with the other children.

Since he was HIV positive, he was quickly started on anti-retroviral treatments. Slowly but surely his health improved. He began to grow both physically and emotionally and his initial shyness disappeared in the loving environment of Treasures of Africa.

Malaria is a continuous battle in the mosquito infested East African climate. But when an immune compromised child contracts malaria, it is of special concern. A few weeks ago, Awadhi got malaria and the resulting high fever sent him into a febrile siezure. He concurrently had an urinary tract infection, which is a dangerous condition with a weakened immune system. He became weaker and weaker and eventually ended up in the hospital.

Awadhi wouldn’t eat or drink, necessitating an IV to keep him hydrated and to get some nutrition into his body. At one point he was so weak he could not even sit up and his situation appeared very grave. We sent the word out over the internet for prayer for this precious child. And surely we saw a miraculous intervention. God’s touch on his life was evident and overnight he was raised up. He was released from the hospital and could hardly wait to get back to running and playing with the other children.

This situation clearly showed the need for intercessors - those willing to stand in the gap for the precious children of TOA. There is a real spiritual battle over their lives and we are determined to see God’s victory for each of them. Thank you to everyone who prayed for Awadhi during this crisis.
