Introducing the Tremendous 2's
Lydia Schaeffer - T.O.A. Program Director

Most of our babies came to live at Treasures of Africa Children’s Home when they were newborn infants, some just a day old. It is hard to believe how much they have grown. They are no longer babies, although we still like to call them our babies. As of July 31st they will have all turned two years old. On Saturday, July 25th we had a group celebration in honor of their birthdays. It was a day filled with lots of singing, rejoicing and cake.
Our six babies are all walking, feeding themselves (they haven’t perfected this yet), learning to use the potty and running all over the place. Their favorite thing to do is to go for a walk with our workers or Jodie and I when we have the time to take them. They walk about a block away to buy bananas from the women who are walking to town carrying a large tray on their heads filled with fruit to sell. After enjoying their bananas they walk to the nearby field to run around and play. They love running on the dirt mounds and cheering themselves on for making it to the top of the mound and then running back down.
We talk to the babies in English because we want them to grow up speaking Kiswahili and English. They are picking up both languages really well. It is fun to listen to them talk. What a blessing it is to be a part of their lives from the very beginning. As you invest both prayer and finances into Treasures of Africa Children’s Home, you are helping to mold their precious young lives for the future of Tanzania. And we believe it is a worthy investment as we are pouring God’s love and life into these children so that they may become compassionate and godly leaders in their nation.
