One Child's Joy

January 2009

Witness and Ali going to schoolAli was full of excitement on his very first day of school (Tanzania begins the new school year each January). At Treasures of Africa Children’s Home in Moshi, the five and a half year old could hardly contain himself as he put on a school uniform, new school shoes and a new backpack for the first time. But it was a special day that almost never came.

Ali and his sister Witness were orphaned when their mother died of AIDS in May 2007. They never knew their father who had abandoned them years before. At the tender ages of 3 and 4, they were being cared for by their aunt who was only 12 years old herself. At that point in time, Ali’s chances of ever attending school were dismal. Then God intervened in his life - and the three children, Ali, Witness and their young aunt Margaret all came to live at Treasures of Africa Children’s Home.

Because of the generosity of the friends of Treasures of Africa and Hidden With Christ Ministries, Ali and all the other children at T.O.A. have been rescued from a bleak future and given a new chance at life. Your continued financial support is critically needed at this time as the monthly expenses at the orphanage don’t lessen just because the economy is facing difficulties. Please be faithful to remember the children at Treasures of Africa in both your prayers and with your financial support. It has brought joy and hope for the future into the lives of children like Ali, Maggie, Witness and Margaret!
