Catherine is one of the newest editions to the TOA family. She was placed in another orphanage at the age of 6 by her father who was HIV positive. Her mother had already passed away from AIDS. She was separated from her 2 sisters, Lucy, who was still living with their father, and Justina, who had already been placed in Treasures of Africa two years before. During this time Catherine’s father’s health began deteriorating quickly. It was his desire that his girls be enabled to live together. So the TOA administration and the local welfare department made it possible for Catherine and her sister Lucy to come and live at Treasures of Africa, reuniting them with their baby sister, Justina.
Catherine was 10 years old when she arrived at our Children’s Home. Catherine showed a lack of discipline due to the unstructured environment she had experienced at her previous orphanage. Now, one year later, Catherine is becoming a very responsible girl who appreciates the opportunity to have a good education and a loving home. Her school work has greatly improved.
She is happy to be with her sisters and is blessed to have new friends her age here at Treasures of Africa. She wants to be a singer and enjoys singing in the church youth choir. The Lord has great things in store for Catherine.
