Magdalena

Maggie is 5 years old and her birthday is May 14. The child’s mother died just 6 months after Magdalena was born due to cancer. The extended family was unsure of the identity of the father. Magdalena had been living with her grandmother since that time. Her grandmother was quite old and had become unable to properly care for her. They lived in extreme poverty in a mud and stick home with no furniture and slept on the dirt floor. The grandmother had no income and was unable to provide sufficient food or pay for the child’s education.

Maggie appeared to be quite shy when we she first arrived, however within a few hours of being at TOA her personality began to shine forth! She is thriving in her new environment. She laughs easily and plays well with the other children. She is especially fond of riding the tricycle and playing with dolls. She is a joy to have at TOA.
