Justina on her Graduation Day from Advanced Secondary School - 2026The 14th of February 2026 dawned brightly. It was a memorable day because it was the day I attended Justina’s graduation. Justina looked elegant in her rose-pink outfit with silver details. She felt happy and relieved, knowing this milestone marked a new beginning.
The graduation started with a grand procession and a short prayer. Students then performed songs, dances, and short dramas to showcase their talents. The guest of honor gave a speech and awarded certificates to the graduates. When her name was called, Justina walked confidently to the front, and it was a proud moment for all of us. After the ceremony, we took photos, laughed, and celebrated together. We ate, drank, and cut the cake while enjoying the special moment. She was very happy to see her Treasures of Africa sisters standing by her side, full of love and support. As the ceremony ended, she said, “Reaching this day wasn’t easy, but I’m proud and grateful. It shows that all the hard work was worth it and gives me hope for the future.”
Justina dreams of studying Journalism and becoming a great writer in Tanzania, especially in book writing. She hopes to write powerful books that speak for society, raise important issues, and bring positive change. She also aims to work closely with the government through her writing, influencing policies and informing the public. She said, “I dream of becoming a journalist and writer whose books inspire change and impact society.”
After completing her upcoming National Examinations, Justina will be ready to join a college or University this Fall and begin building toward her future career.
Justina on a swing at Treasures of Africa Children's Home - April 2009 - a few months before her third birthdayEditor’s Note: Justina has come a long way since she first arrived as a twelve-month-old child at Treasures of Africa Children’s Home after the death of her mother. Her father, a fisherman by trade, was sickly himself and could not care for a baby after the death of his wife. Justina’s older sister, Lucy, was three years old at the time and her father tried to keep her at home with the help of a relative who lived nearby. But Lucy eventually came to join her sister Justina at Treasures of Africa because their father was struggling to care for her and unable to afford to send her to school.
Justina age 7 in her Christmas dress at Treasures of AfricaWhen Justina became of age to attend school, Hidden with Christ Ministries sponsored her enrollment in a private English-medium school where she quickly became bilingual in English and Swahili. It did not take long to realize that Justina was very bright. She excelled academically as she progressed through Primary and Secondary School. As she matured, and had creative writing assignments at school, it became apparent she had a real gift for writing. She has written many poems and stories over the years.
We no longer have an academic sponsor for Justina. So prayerfully consider becoming a TOA Education sponsor for Justina. Her college career will begin this Fall, but we are currently covering all her financial needs as she is residing in the ministry’s Transition House for girls.
